Starter retracts too soon..

Just yesterday morning I drove my car, started fine,
no problems at all... later that afternoon, I went to
start my car, but didn't work.. I turned the key,
which for about 1 second sounded like it would
start, but then it just gave out.. the starter retracted  
too soon. Is it just the the starter is going out, or
could I be having electrical problems?

Yeah, decided to do that later today after work... just incase it was the starter not electrical problems. Taking it to be tested.. Will get back with the results
