Question type: General

Is it possible and what has to be done to put a 2005
4.6 liter motor in a 1996 mustang gt bogey with the
4.6 L motor?

The swap is very possible as the 96 still uses the same 4.6L mod motor block. Things to consider: You will need a complete engine, harness, computer, transmission, and drive shaft. You will also need a new K-member/motor mounts. If I remember correctly, the 3v is taller than the 2v that came in the '96's. Pick the headers/exhaust you like that fit your application. You will need a new transmission mount since the '96 used the T-5 and the 4.6L 3v should have at least a TR3650 (manual) or a 5R55S (auto). You're best bet is to find a high mileage 3v or a wrecked one. Then you can swap the parts off the 2005-2010 in to your 1996. Other options include the newer 5.0L Coyote motor which has also been swapped already. Engine swaps from other years are not the cheapest route typically.
