Why isn't my fuel pump getting power?
Asked by wwhohnson3 Jul 18, 2016 at 01:44 PM about the 1999 Plymouth Voyager SE
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Prior to doing any of the things listed below I removed the instrument cluster
and re-soldered the connector solder points. The cluster is functioning
properly.
The 3.3L engine turns over but will not start. I changed the auto shutoff relay.
Still will not start. The relay does not click. I created a new ground to the fuel
pump directly from the chassis and bypassed the relay with a wire from the
positive terminal of the battery to the power feed terminal for the relay on the
junction box. The fuel pump powered up. When I turned the ignition key the
engine fired up and continued to run smoothly until I turned off the ignition.
What is causing the fuel pump not to get power?

Thank you for answering. I tested both the ASD and the fuel pump relays. They tested okay. Is there another fuse?

First check with test light if there is power at the connector going to fuel pump. Maybe just a bad connector.

If there is another fuse, where is it located?
firebird338 answered 8 years ago
There should be a fuse for the fuel pump in the fuse box under the dash or hood. May need owners manual to see which one it is.

There is power at the connector at the fuel pump when I bypassed the relay with a jumper wire. With relay in place, no power.

Owners manual if do not have one Google owners manual for year, make and model of your vehicle.
Any luck with your Plymouth? I have a 93 Plymouth Voyager same problem no power to fuel pump wiring harness switched relays around on front fender still no luck..... At my wit's end with this thing
