vacuum control line to vacuum pump under pass. side glove box

Asked by Breck53 Oct 23, 2015 at 10:47 PM about the 2010 Ford E-Series E-350 Super Duty Cargo Van

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a ford 2010 E350 triton small RV.  Climate control defaulted to
defrost because rat chewed black vacuum line going to v. pump under
glove box.  The line starts off red from interior control then goes to engine
compartment where there is a junction where the line turns black.  The
black part is chewed and then goes either directly through firewall into area
under glove box or it goes into (what looks like the fan motor box) and then
through the firewall.  I am pretty sure all I need is to replace the black line
because it is chewed after it transitions to black and before it goes back
through firewall.  My question is where does the black line go when it goes
through firewall under glove box...directly to engine compartment where I
could feed a wire into engine compartment or  does it go into the fan motor
housing.  I hope it goes directly into engine compartment because I think I
can just fish a wire through and pull it into engine compartment for a much
easier fix than dis assembling a bunch of stuff.

I tried that. When I went to pull on the portion that goes through firewall it was chewed there too so it was broken in 2 spots and I can't see where it goes or even find the end of it unlit it enters through the firewall under glove box. I removed the plug the line goes through under glovebox but it does not want to pull towards me, it feels like it's stuck or attached to something on other side of firewall (in the engine compartment) which I can not see and hence my question if anyone knows for sure where it goes from where it goes out of firewall below glovebox to the top of what I think is the fan module which is where I found the link chewed at both ends. Thanks for your help.

whats the deal mine was chewed also!! are they coating this stuff with jelly???
