Has anyone else reported problems with sudden unintended acceleration in a 2003 Ford Econoline E350 van?

Question type: General

I recently had a sudden unintended acceleration incident with my 2003
Ford Econoline E350 van. I was stopped behind traffic at a stoplight with
my foot on the brake. I had been waiting for 20 or 30 seconds with the
brake fully depressed when my van suddenly accelerated and crashed into
the vehicle ahead of me. My foot never left the brake, and, in fact, my front
tires were locked and left skid marks because I never took my foot off the
brake. Thankfully, the vehicle that I crashed into was a big bus that didn't
even move when my van hit it. I shudder to think what might have been the
outcome if I had been stopped behind a small car or at a school crossing.

That is bad. I think this is the only credible case of unintended acceleration I have ever heard of.

Yes Sudden Unintended Acceleration is very common today with cars.. Google and you will see Toyota/Lexus lead the way. Honda admitted to SUA and recalled 175000 cars. Kia and Hyundai have the same problems. Automakers would like you to believe it is a pedal confusion.

the gas pedal and brake or so close together you had your foot on both the same thing has happened a couple time on my 08 E250

Greg, This was not a case of pedal confusion or accidentally pressing both pedals at once. The van was at a full stop, and had been stopped for 20 seconds or so, when it suddenly took off

Trolls are hired by automakers to make sure to put the blame on you. SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION is very common with cars today. Toyota/Lexus lead the way. Google and read about it.

I have a 2005 Ford E350 cutaway van that has been doing something similar. It started recently to Idol kind of high uncontrollably on his own not all the time but certain times it would do so then certain time it would not. the alternator and later went out I replace the new alternator I haven't noticed it recently but I'm wondering if that has something to do with it. also I think it could maybe be a broke Mount I'm thinking one of my mounts is broke as well that's the next thing I will check. Hopefully this helps.

lindal.ou74 It is just an idea I had it happen to me 2 or 3 times on my 08 no one wants to admit to pulling a geriatric move including me. Hope you have found and repaired. your van.despite your troubles the E series is a pretty rugged van.

Ford has to stop blaming drivers for unintended acceleration. We have a 2010 e350 XLT Van. Unintended acceleration occurred 8 times on broad street in Philadelphia. All this in 2 hours. No one seems to know why. So far no one was killed or injured. Still looking. Am contacting Ford Company.

Not even 5 minutes from my home, the vehicle in front of me was coming to a stop, so I put my foot on the the brake pedal. The van was not stopping and started to accelerate on its own while my foot was pressing fully on the brake pedal. As a result, I hit the dump truck in front of me causing damage to my passenger side headlight, fender, and hood. Very lucky it was not someone crossing in front of my vehicle or a smaller vehicle. Acceleration was not stopping at all while my foot was on the brake.

I am getting unintended acceleration with a 2016 Ford E-450 Engine in an RV. It happened once after slowing down in a parking lot to let traffic go by to pull out on the roadway. Then it happened while making a left hand turn at low speed. It seems, in both cases, as soon as I took my foot off the gas, to let the vehicle coast, it accelerated. This happened on the day I took the vehicle out of winter storage. Otherwise the engine runs great. Please respond, wiht E-450 in the Subject, to brucecg1@gmail.com.
