Asked by Tyypo Mar 22, 2018 at 12:25 PM about the 1998 Ford E-Series E-150 STD Econoline

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Ok I got an 1998 f 150 with a v6 and manual trans it’s 2
wheel drive also have a 1993 f150 4x4 with a 5.8l v8 and
an auto trans  the v6 was flooded with anti freeze and is
around 200k miles the v8 has only about 5000 miles the
1998 f150 has a really good body great interior but the
1993 f150 has bad body and horrid interior how much
would it cost to change out the v6 and manual trans with
the v8 and automatic trans sence one was 2wd and one
was 4wd I kinda figured it would be a nightmare  or
should I try to have the v6 rebuilt what would be the best
option

Why not swap the 98's good body over onto the 93's frame? (Assuming the V8's frame isn't rotten.) If it were me, I'd want to use the V8 and it's entire drivetrain. If you swap drivetrain over, you'll need it's wire harnesses and computers, and whether to turn the 98 into a 4x4 or not (lots of extra work there).
