Van starts and runs good in park, when put in drive the engine sputters and jerks then shuts off. Place van in park again and it starts and runs fine. Put in drive and again sputters and lunges.

Van was running fine for a good while. Then yesterday afternoon I was at a store. Got into the van, started ok and moved to a stop sign. Went to accelerate and the engine sputtered and the van lunged a couple times then shut off. Placed it in park, started the engine and it ran good no sputtering but put it in drive and again sputtering and lunging then engine shut off. Tried again to start and again started fine. Got to a gas station, pout gas in it. Started and ran in park again no problem, put it in drive and again sputtering and lunging. Shut it off and called a tow truck. Any ideas as to what might have caused this?

check the plugs , wires , dist. cap and rotor , look for any broken/loose vacuum lines

Will do a visual and check, tks! This problem happened all of a sudden, the van has been running excellent since I had a new fuel pump put on a couple months ago. Is there a chance it could a eec, pcm, pcv, evap or egr related problem.

My van is the exact same model and is experiencing the same problem, except it doesn't run in park unless I press on the gas for a couple minutes, but when I change into drive it sputters, lunges then shuts off. Did you ever find the fix to your problem?
