Where can I find a 16 gallon center tank for my 138 in wheelbase e250 or will the 18 gallon from the 124 in van fit?

Asked by smithdks May 02, 2013 at 09:46 PM about the 1990 Ford E-Series E-250 3 Dr XL Econoline Cargo Van Extended

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've been to several auto parts stores and looked on the net for hours. I bought a used 1990 econoline e250, 351v8 that obviously sat for awhile.  When I changed the fuel filter it was full of rust and the fuel gauge is working properly. So I decided to just install new tanks and fuel pumps.  The 22 gallon back tank is no problem but the tank in front of the rear axle doesn't seem to exist.  I found the fuel pump (SP2019H) but no one at Advance, AutoZone, Orielly's, or on line seems to have the tank.  Some are suggesting that the 18 gal tank designated as the 124 in wheelbase tank may be interchangeable but they aren't sure.
