Asked by Imodx84 Apr 14, 2021 at 07:17 PM about the 1988 Ford E-Series E-350 XL Super Club Wagon Extended Passenger RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Previous owner only drove it 12 miles on locale roads. We purchased it was
fine driving at local levels, once we got to motorway @ 60 mph was good for a
bit, then had to go to 50 mph, and couldn't get back to 60mph. went to 35mph
and again couldn't speed up any higher that that.

turned engine off and couldn't get it going again, had to have it towed then
rest of the way.

Now since then, have checked the starters fuel pump. still not even cranking.

what to do?? please help

Check for fuel and spark. If the engine will not turn over the first thing to check is the battery and charging system.

Thank you, We have checked everything mechanical. We now can get it to start by turning key power on, and by passing it by putting screwdriver on the starter solenoid. It runs beautifully but just won't start with key. Any suggestions??

Maybe the ignition switch is bad. I would also check the starter relay.
