My Lexus IS 300

Asked by dbarreda Jan 19, 2017 at 02:54 AM about the 2002 Lexus IS 300 Sedan RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Lexus is300 seems to be acting up. It has
almost 200k miles. Sometimes it seems like the
transmission is acting up the other night like
seemed like I had to push the  gas pedal all the way
to the floor for it to run. But then I turned it off and
started it up again and it was fine. Any ideas what it
can be.

I dont think its the transmission, with 200,000 when is the ladt time you gave the car a really good tuneup, plugs, wires, fuel filter, etc, you should give the throttle body a really good cleaning as well.this will give you a good starting point

This also happened to Mayeye I S3 hundred and it was pretty weird but I actually figured out that I had a battery issue . Every time your car dies and you jump it or the alternator is going out or the batteries going bad you will have transmission problems . Yes turning it off and turning it back on the work for me but it was pretty scary . Putting it in drive and it seem like I had my brake on and it wouldn't go anywhere . But it was due to the fact that I started the car on the low battery and it barely turned over . Make sure your battery doesn't have an issue neither your alternator .
