what does the lock symbol came on my dashboard all of a sudden and the car wont start now, it will make noise like it wants to start but doesnt

pontiac 2006 G6, my car suddenly stopped working so i bought a new
starter, it still wont start and now has a lock symbol on dashboard that was
never there before. the car sounds like it wants to start but doesnt. also my
friend can start the car by going underneath the front of car and jumping
the solenoid. soooo what is making my car not start with the key also what
does the lock symbol mean? (it was never there b4 when i bought the car
and had the car for 1 and a half year before this just happen) thx. any
advice i would APPRECIATE it cause i love my damn car n miss driving
it!!!! :(

I copied that post and it showed another forum and from there I googled those links but it says 404 error?.....:(
Make sure you have at least 12.6 volts at the battery. These cars will not start and the security system will not reset with less than 12.6 volts. If however your battery tests okay, do this: Turn the key to the ON position and leave it for ten minutes. This will 'reset' the ignition rotation sensor, which often goes bad in these cars. Thx everyone for responding, i do greatly appreciate this, and it def sounds like the key is not responding to the car "brain", lol, so I will try first to get they key made n try that suggestions then second calling around dealerships about replacing the key, i just pray that's the problem!!! I will update everyone what i found out that worked to fix this problem so in future someone else going thru this can try this out instead of wanting to beat ur car to a pulp due to frustration,hehehe. ;) thx ~Chrissy

If you have reset button on you vehicle put it in the second on position hit the menu button till oil life comes on hit menu button and arrow and reset button same time this will allow your vehicle to crank it took me 4 months to figure that out any questions feel free to call or text me 470-456-7079 good luck
