Does anyone know why these cars squeek when its cold out?

Asked by robcapezio Mar 28, 2012 at 04:18 PM about the 2006 Pontiac Solstice Roadster

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The squeeking sounds like its coming from the front struts, which were replaced in the last year. It only happens when its cold out, never in the summer.

because rubber gets hard& dry in the cold, spray all the bushings with wd-40 , no more squeak.

It sounds like you need to lube or replace the front sway bar rubber bushings. This is a known condition that only appears in cold weather. You can lube them or change them out to polyurethane bushings that won't squeak. Here's a thread on the issue. http://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/f11/front-end-squeak-74157/
