No heat

Asked by GuruBXLBH Dec 23, 2018 at 01:00 PM about the 2005 Pontiac Aztek STD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We got a 2005 aztek a few weeks ago.
First the water pump went out, then the power
steering pressure hose went out. Ialso got the
transmission fillet replaced, timing chain replaced,
serpentine belt replaced, cabin air filter replaced
and had an oil change done. When we first got the
car the heat worked great, after fixing the water
pump the heat worked sometimes, after the
pressure hose the heat stopped working
altogether. The temp gauge has gone into the red a
few times but never for more then a few seconds.
Yesterday I was driving to work and the gauge
went into red for maybe 3-5 seconds and went
down, then the car started smoking. I looked under
the hood and it was wet like when the water pump
went out. Today when i drive to work everything
seemed fine. No over heating or smoke. But the
heater doesn't blow anything, hot or cold. Any
ideas what this could be?

I have 2005 Aztek. Paid $1800 90 000 mi lots of fixing up right at first, not as much as you've had so I hope you got it for $750 or that it's under 125,000 miles. These Azteks, says the manual, can have the needle go into the beginning of the red and be okay. Just pull over and they cool down or needle goes down faster than any car I've seen. Normal car you give it at least 45 min to be cool enough to drive and add coolant. My Azteks' needles drop from red to okay in 10 min. The smoke is not hot steam from pressure release on coolant system? That's serious sign. I can't advise you about heater issue except that my Aztek's heater core, previous owner said, had leaked fluid onto floor of passenger side. There was a stain there but it never got worse. When winter came the heater worked, though.
