gas door on 2005 Pontiac G6 gets stuck and won't open

Asked by RevRon Oct 09, 2013 at 06:28 PM about the 2005 Pontiac G6 Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

the hinge on the gas door seems to have a plastic nub on it that must be stopping the
door from opening fully.  This is not an electrical release, but a manual door.

Sometimes the hinge gets rusty. Have someone very lightly pry on the door while you pull the release. Then lube the door hinge and work it back and forth, until it moves freely. It could also be a missing or broken door spring (less likely). Or a broken release/cable.

I'm sorry, there is no manual or electronic release for the gas door. At least not that I know of.

After further research, I found that there are only 2 components to the fuel door. The door assembly, and a bumper.
