Car Shaking

Asked by GuruBD3B9 Dec 08, 2018 at 02:24 AM about the 2005 Pontiac G6 Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I exceed 100km/hr my front wheel shakes
bad (along with steering wheel of course)
expecially on a straight stretch, but if I'm turning a
corner doing that speed it's fine. Anything under
100km/hr there's absolutely no shaking. I've seen a
few things saying i'd need a tire re balance and
others say I'd need new brakes and struts.
However the brakes are brand new, so question is
would I need a tire re balancing or new struts?

As FOR indicated, it could be many things. Good news is that it should be relatively easy to identify and fix. Start with the easiest first - tires all worn equally? balanced properly? Then try moving the wheel in and out by gasping at the top and bottom while the car is lifted. If it moves, bearings are likely worn. Then move on to the suspension parts to find anything loose including all connecting rods, ball joints and shocks/struts.
