Sunfire Motors
Just out of curiosity, I have an 05 Pontiac
Sunfire and was wondering if I should stay
with the 2.2L four cylinder or put in a v6
motor? I'm wondering which would have
better fuel mileage and hold rpms better on
hills? Needing to either rebuild or replace my
current engine due to a lifter knocking.

Clearly the 4 banger has better fuel economy and the 6 has more power. You will rue the day you tried a conversion.
Just didn't know what I should do. I live in a hill area and didn't know if v6 would be better in fuel due to the rpms not being as high? When I first got it driving to work would take an eighth of a tank one way. Now sometimes it seems like it uses a quarter of a tank one way...
You should not invest a dime in that junker. If you were to swap in a V8 into a cavalier/sunflower it would still only be worth a grand or two. If it gets into an accident, all the work and money is gone. Buy a mustang or a Camaro or something desirable if you want to start with engine swaps. I once knew a guy who wanted to build a 1991 VW Passat. I convinced him how ugly the car was and how cheap a foxbody is and next thing you know he built a beautiful gunmetal grey 1991 mustang. It is stunning and built at home on a budget.
I'm just looking at options. This is my first car I've ever bought on my own and have to pay it off before buying another car. Just have to keep it running till then. I know I'mma either need to rebuild or replace the motor soon. Was just wanting to know better option between the two for fuel mileage in hilly terrain?
The 4 will still be better in the hills for economy.
Any of you know of a good site to buy used or new engines
