Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have been having to add about 1 qt. of oil per 3000 miles, whats going on with my engine? Only got 55k mileage on it, I usually drive in the 65-70 mph range 90% of the time on the hwy. Useing 5-30w oil, change out around 5,000 miles. Thanks for your help!

Hello wrenchmonkey-- Manufacturers would call this normal usage. I know of one brand that told a customer that it was normal for his car to burn a quart every 800 miles. What you can do is check for leaks. If you don't see any drips on the floor of your garage, have a mechanic look at it. Good luck from Bovan.
