Will a 04 lower intake fit on a 96 ?

I see where you are going with this, as both vehicles use similar engines, both the 3.0L OHV and DOHC. But the answer is no. I looked up the Intake Manifold gasket for the DOHC and it is listed as working on either the 1996 to 2000 or one for 2001 to 2007. If you have an OHV, which I think you do, on the GL trim. you can look for one from a 1986 to 2000. Of course other Ford vehicles in those era's also used the same engine.
