What engine would fit in a 2003 pontiac sunfire, standard transmission, 2.2l eco-tech?
I bought the car, checked the oil when i did, and it was full. I did 350km, and the valves started ticking.
When I checked the oil, it was empty. My dad said to just keep driving till it died, then we'll change the
motor in it. Well, it took 3 quarts of oil, and now it knocks. I'm looking for a car that's in rough shape, but
that the engine still runs good in, to swap the engines. The problem is, 2003 is the year that pontiac made
the eco-tech motors a standard thing. What engine would fit my car?

Lots of engines will fit its a matter of how much work you wanna do. 03 and up Sunfire and cavalier are positively the same since this engine was used in thousands of vehicles http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_Family_II_engine#L61 that link will explain a lot

Are you sure you even want to swap out the engine...is it losing power..burning oil ? I've heard many fuel injected engines also sound like they have a valve tap when it was the injectors tapping..how's fuel economy. Replacing a stuck lifter or worn lifter is sometimes faster easier and cheaper than pulling a complete motor..food for thought..but would definitely make sure it's not a injector tap before doing a motor swap.

I have a 2.2 litre Sunfire engine in car in Calgary, start it and see it run...clutch is gone.. on Kijiji Calgary sell engine or whole car
