Question type: General

The SHO is an 8 cylinder car. This question relates to the previous question asked. The second question, relates to the coil packs not firing on cylinders 3, 6, 7, 8. This does niot make since but it is true. The indiviual coil packs where checked I notice that coil pack #2 was firing  however, coil pack 6 and 8 was not. I did check to see if the coil were good and both were good. so could it be the PCM problem. Becaues all the coil packs are not getting fire. the coil pack was changed about a year ago. Just to let you know I used the Motocraft spark plugs and the coil pack are new as well.

The 1996 actually was the 1st year of the 3rd Gen SHO models that did actually have a V8 (From Wikipedia): For 1996, the SHO was redesigned. Unlike its predecessors, this SHO was more refined and used less radical bodywork. It differed from the normal Taurus with different seats, wheels, bumpers, drivetrain, as well as a fin being put on the driver's side windshield wiper, to keep it on the windshield at high speeds. This SHO model sold in lower numbers than the previous SHO generations, with sales peaking at 9,000 units in 1997. As a result, Ford cut the SHO when redesigning the Taurus for its fourth generation. It was also the only Ford Taurus generation with a V8 engine. The 1996 and later models got the AX4N transmission, which has the same gearsets (and thus the same gear ratios) as the AX4S used in the 1993 to 1995 SHO, but had improved torque capacity and shift quality, such as 3-2 downshifts. The last one rolled off the assembly line on June 18, 1999

No problem, Fordtech57...I didn't think there was a V8 version myself, but decided to Wiki it to see what I could find. I had a '97 Taurus as a company car in Tan (ugh..hate that color on cars) with that weak ass 6 cylinder..wish I had the SHO then! No sure what engine the current SHO uses though...
