Dome light

Asked by Ian Nov 22, 2016 at 07:42 AM about the 2002 Pontiac Sunfire SE Coupe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My dome light on my 2002 gunfire stays on even
when the doors are shut, I know the latches inside
the door either need tightened or replaced but is
there anyway I can rig it to come on and off? Also,
when I hook the wires back into the interior rear
view mirror, one wire sparks and it blows the fuse,
can anyone tell me what could be causing this?

The dome light could be just the switch in one or both door jams. Unless the car has some damage that would cause you to think they need adjusting, I would first test the switches. As for the fuse problem, it sounds like you may be making a power to ground connection. Are you certain that the leads are being re-installed in the same places and are not switched or being plugged in backwards?
