Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a Pontiac gunfire that is a 2001
2.2 litre. In the morning, it chugs but
won't turn over or catch. The fuel filter
and coil packs have been replaced. It
burps on occasion but just won't start
running. Once it fires up later in the
day, it will start again with no problem.
After it sits awhile it starts hard again
but will after a few tries. Does it have a
fuel positioning sensor or is the fuel
pump getting weak? Any help is
appreciated.

there is a in-tank fuel pump check valve, if it is malfunctioning it will cause the fuel in the line to drain back into the tank after you shut off the engine...it could also be a faulty fuel pressure regulator, leak in a fuel line or a leaking fuel injector
