I have a 1996 Thunderbird. When I try to start it, it cranks but the engine doesn't stay running.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

If I start it, and hold the gas for a few minutes once it turns over, it stays running. But if it
sits for a few hours, I have the same problem again. Any ideas?

no I haven't. it just started last night. It was running fine. I parked the car and it sat for a few hours. I came back to start it and it starts and shuts off instantly.

Is there a chance it has jumped timing? Had a Chrysler that did that and the timing belt jumped a notch but it did run rough when it happened.
