I have a 96 3.8 v6 ford thunderbird, an I think I threw a rod? Tried putting oil in an it pours out right before the oil pan by the frame were I can't see.

Yes, the two are just about interchangable. You need to make sure to get the ECIU when you make the swap as the computers are different. Also, I am not sure the bell housings are interchangeable.
I have a 1996 Ford TBird and I want to make sure what oil to use I was at Walmart and bought some conventional oil so is that good enough to work with motor
