Probably faster and cheaper to go to a junk yard and buy a used one.

I have the same problem. but I thought you had to get a new one and fill out paper work at the DMV? no?

I don't know what state you are in but just write the Sec. of State and ask what you should do. That's what they get paid to do.

Most likely the gears are broke. They can be fixed. Just fixed mine in a 96 about a year ago
