Horsepower

Asked by GuruWVW3N Apr 26, 2018 at 03:56 PM about the 2000 Pontiac Firebird Convertible

Question type: General

I have a 2000 firehawk TA 5.7, any idea of
the horse power? People always ask and I
say around 400. Am I living in a fantasy
world?

The Trans Am 5.7 V8 rates 305 hp, but with the WS-6 performance package, revs up to 320 hp. Not the 400 hp you say, but not bad either, if you have the WS-6 version you can hit 0-60 in five seconds. The source for the information comes from my Pontiac Service Manual issued by General Motors and revised August 2000. Hope this helps.

At the crankshaft your probably right around 400hp.At the rear wheels I'm told 337 hp. I'm owner of 2000 firehawk trans am with ole bumpy spoiler.

Old lumpy spoiler, and I too have #250/741 slp firehawk. All I added was stainless steel long tubes. N had it dyno'd and tuned. = 323rwhp with 336 rw torque. ... which if it were bhp ( engine hp ) it would be in the area of 420 hp 435 torque at crank. Which is quick for a basically stock car from factory
