What was original 0 - 60 performance range for 2000 Firebird, base engine?

Asked by sandykramer Mar 23, 2007 at 04:32 AM about the 2000 Pontiac Firebird Base

Question type: General

Trying to settle a "discussion" (argument) with wife:  What was the original 0 - 60 performance range for the 200 hp manual trans
1994 Firebird hatch?  I have a 2007 base Solstice ( 177 h.p. ) on
order.  I believe the 2007 base Solstice is supposed to do 0 - 60
in the range of 7.2 - 7.8 seconds.  The Mrs. is trying to tell me I have ordered a "sports car" and I'm trying to tell her the 2007 base Solstice ( manual ) isn't much different ( 0 - 60 m.p.h. ) than her 2000 Firebird, 200 hp, manual...

You are correct SandyKramer. The Solstice is no more a "sports car" than your 2000 Firebird was/is. Your 2000 Firebird, with a 3.8 liter V6, did 0-60 in 7.7 seconds. Your new 2007 Solstice, with a 2.4 liter inline 4cyl, does 0-60 in 7.5. That is according to tests that Motor Trend did. Edmunds.com has it at 7.7, and YahooAutos has it at 7.3. I would go with Motor Trend.

To correctly find the your question on your car, is to have it tested on a floor dyno to get the real HP. through each gear and from a dead stop. Also generates HP. rear wheels not just engine HP. This will give you a good look to see were your CAR stands oppose to quotes given by the manufactory on speeds & HP.

Your Answer:

Firebird
