Pontiac sunfire 2000 2.2 4 cylinder

Asked by Montclair_719 Jan 15, 2017 at 12:43 PM about the 2000 Pontiac Sunfire SE Coupe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Pontiac sunfire will not run it turns over
but won't start, I've changed the spark plugs
and wires and the coil pack I've recently
replaced the alternator and battery too.
While trying to crank it my theft light is lit up
but if it's just in the on position it's not there.
I don't know what else to do can someone
please help me out?? When this originally
happened my car was running fine I started
it up and shut it down 2 times fast and the
3rd time it wouldn't even fire up. I've
checked the fuses they all look fine. Any
other information I appreciate it.

I don't know , disconnect the batt. for half an hour ? I'm thinking that rapid on/offon/off did something to the anti theft . I've seen cars start , shut off , all by itself repeatedly till I pulled the batt. cable . That 2000 malibu got junked because of the anti theft .

Ya, could be in the anti theft, need to try and reset that first. Otherwise it could be the ignition control module on top of the coil pack. I just did one not that long ago. Unfortunately that one I could not get tested anywhere. But I was right in fixing that car.
