'99 Pontiac bonnieville starting issue

Asked by Jeanae Jul 14, 2016 at 02:10 PM about the 1999 Pontiac Bonneville 4 Dr SLE Sedan

Question type: General

My car is a oldie but is in great shape. '99 but with only
120k miles and has original engine and transmission. I
recently have been having starting issues. I've narrowed it
down to being linked in with my a/c. If the a/c is turned on
when I try to start the car, it won't start. No clicks no noise
just lights. If I turn the air off it will start right up. Has
anyone seen this issue before or maybe have an idea on
what's going on?  Thanks in advanced.

Don,t think the ac would be the issue of not cranking, and yes i know you said it want crank with ac on,but off it will, this leads me to think you have a wiring issue, short.

Inspect and clean the battery connections and have the battery tested, the additional load from the A/C may be drawing the voltage down too low while starting.
