I got a 99 pontiac sunfire with 2.2 will not rev up

To start the car u have to hold the throttle on the floor then will not rev up past 1500 Rpms when this happened I
was running down the highway at 70 and it just would not rev up

The two things I would check are the fuel filter and the catalytic converter. Both will give you lose of power if they are clogged.
