1998 Firebird headlight cover right side would not open.

Wife said spray it with WD-40. Which i did and to my surprise it worked...but
only temporarily. after sitting awhile it doesn't open but again responds to a
round of WD-40....

Any suggestions?

Yes lubing is the way to go. I would say use white lithium grease on all the moving parts to start with if it still acts funny then could be the motor going bad I've also heard that the gears that activate the door opening or closing could be wearing out as well. Good luck!
