You may have a bad windshield seal. I have seen cars that develop leaks from the air intake vent between the wipers where the hood meets the vent just under the windshield. You will basically have to lay on your back with a flashlight as someone holds a hose and lets water flow down your windshield area.

But wouldn't my whole front carpet be wet?

No. I had a '66 Mustang that had leaks like yours. Mine would only leak from the top of the passenger fender. If I shined a light way up to where the fender would meet the windshield, I could see just one drip of water coming through. I bought a plexi glass cover that screwed over the top of the vents by the windshield. That stopped the leak.

I found the leak!!!!!! Apprently the latch for the hood that goes thru the fire wall seal fell off so the water came thru there
