Should I get it?

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

So, I am turning 16 soon, and am looking for a good used car. I came across a 1997 Pontiac Bonnevile SE w/ nearly 200K miles on it, for 2K. Should I go for it? Thanks.

No - 2k will buy you something better with a lot less miles

I'd first see what other options are available. how well the car is running, were you able to take a test drive? This question could help answer what repairs or repairs that are likely to be needed soon. if there is minimial rust/corrosion is on the vehicle especially underbody and underhood, it sounds like? Otherwise if everything checks out, you could enjoy lower insurance rate, decent size car/trunk space, decent fuel economy and it will not depreciate as much. Based on the picture, doesn't look bad. From what I know, the 3800 engines are easier to work on compared to V6 60 degree engines (i.e. 3.1L or 3.4L). Hopefully this help in your car buying decision, whichever one you choose, I wish you the best of luck
