may be a broken wire in the rubber that is where the doors open and close so much, many are on driver side.

When you say "illuminates" do you mean the radio panel lights come on with your haedlights or does the radio display (time/station/track/etc) come on? If there is no radio dispaly, it could just be the fuse - check it first. If the display/clock is lighting, then your radio may need to be replaced.

your radio is ok it possibly has a seprate amp. some times they have a hickup and need to be reset. their is two ways to do this, disconnect the battery touch the positive and negitive together to reset or find the rodio fuse pull it then reinstall. if that dosent fix the problem then it might be a blown amp.
