Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just bought a 1997 Pontiac Firebird Base Model
this Firebird has T Top's and a Manuel
Transmission, it has a 3.8L a V6 a Series Two
Engine inside. I got the Firebird on November 7TH
of 2017. When the Firebird was brought to my
house. The previous owner told me that the
Firebird has a Valve Lifter Ticking Noise problem
inside the engine, i still need help to fix the valve
lifter ticking noise. Also came with a torn oxygen
sensor connecter, I replaced already.  and also had
no key ignition, I replaced already. Now my oil pan
is missing a bolt and the oil pan also has a little
dent on the outside of the oil pan. I still haven't
fixed the oil leak. My 1st Time Looking Inside the
Firebird I Noticed the Multi Turn Signal Lever on the
Steering Wheel Column was hanging down and
was disconnected. Like the previous owner took
the steering wheel column a part before and he put
it back together and left important steering wheel
column pieces out of the column important parts
that go into the steering wheel column before I
bought the firebird and he did not put the steering
wheel column parts back in he just left the parts all
inside the firebird. I found Steering Wheel Column
Parts inside the Firebird on the Seats and Floor and
inside the Glove Department. I found lots of parts a
Screw that goes to the the Turn Signal little Metal
Arm piece part that was laying on the floor of the
firebird, I also found a Retaining Ring , a Wave
Washer Ring, a Lock Ring Remover, a Bearing
Retainer Ring, and a little Spring and a hazard light
switch piece Part, also my hazard lights won't go
off when I plug in my battery any suggestions I had
to take the steering wheel column a part to
attached the Turn metal arm part with screw to get
the blinkers to work again also had to put the
dimmer rod actuator black plastic piece, back in to
the column anyway I think I did something wrong
because now my firebird is not starting at all. How
to wire a 4 wire pigtail alternator connection
connecter any suggestions I need your help???
Thank you lot for your help.. where do these parts
and pieces go inside the steering wheel column???
Can anyone help me out???? Posted a pic

find a donor car or go to a salvage yard and replace the whole column , the oil pan will have to be removed and the missing bolt tapped out and replaced , a haynes manual would be useful they have wiring diagrams , you got your work cut out for you why did you buy this thing ?

WOW. As dissected as that steering column is, and your notations that it had a no-key ignition, I'm first going to suggest that you run the VIN through the stolen vehicle database as that seriously would be my first thought in your situation. If it is indeed not stolen, you have a long road ahead of you. Personally, I wouldn't even bother and just sell it as a roller. You're likely going to have more money in it than it could ever possibly be worth, and the amount of time you're about to sink into it will be extensive.

Where does this wave washer ring go and the other ring parts go inside the steering wheel column? And Where does that black piece go to? The black piece is in the back in the pic with the rings parts.

dude , the car is 20 years old , the motor needs to be torn down and you're worried about the steering wheel ? It's a sports car , it was rallied and beat on , if you want to tear it apart go for it you'll be all the wiser

Add a quart of Lucas oil stabilizer, if the ticking persists, remove half of the oil and add a quart of motor flush. folloe the instructions carefully. if after changing the oil and filter after the flush, (use synthetic oil and a quart of Lucas) the ticking persists, then drain the new oil, (save it for later) drop the oil pan and replace the oil pump. get a new oil pan from the salvage yard first, since it needed replaced anyway. Go to the local auto parts store and get oil resistant RTV silicone to make a new gasket, follow the instructions on the tube carefully. While there, pick up a new oil pump. You should be able to get it all done for around $100-200 if you can do the work yourself.

If Redrocketz28 advice fails to stop the ticking, you could have a flat lifter, that is only partially pumping up, and take it from me, thats a great way to throw a rod thru the side of your block. BUT: That scenario will result in a new engine, which is probably on the menu anyway. Good luck.
