I drive a 1992 Pontiac firebird. I have a 305 v8. My car for the past 2 months has been chugging. What happens is when I am driving my service engine light will come on and then a my mufflers will get really loud and then get really stiky and start chugging. It will chug sometimes until it dies but I can restart it most of the time. While my car is chugging it will also accelerate and deaccelerate on its own. My father and I have replaced the throttle postioning system, the m.a.p.s. sensor, carbarator, and spark plugs. My father and I are stumped on what could be causing the problem because it is still chugging and accelerating even after everything we have done. Any help on what it could be, would be awesome.

I have a 1990 firebird with the 3.1l and I have been realized that when I start it to warm up, it sucks more gas then it does when I am driving it and I want to know why it does that. My other question is, one day. I was on my way back and I was at a stop sign and their was a car coming, so I put my foot to the floor to and it just died on me, it started right up and drove ever since that. 7 Answers
