Question type: General

On this 996 Carrera 4S what are the repercussions of switching from the original 18"wheels to 19" wheels? Does this affect handling or braking? Or anything else for that matter? I want to get black rims and the selection in 19" rims is much greater than in 18". I also figure this would give me about another half inch clearance in the front to eliminate rubbing front cowl on the street when exiting mmy driveway.

I have 19" turbo rims and the car is also lowered, no issues other than speedo on my C4S.

You'll have to go with a lower aspect ratio tire to keep the original diameter without affecting the speedometer.

If you match your original diameter, your ground scraping problems will continue. If you go for the original aspect ratio on the 19" wheels the scraping on the ground will be will be less but the speedometer will be off. You now could have tire scraping within the wheel well. Also unsprung weight is increased, not good for braking. Best bet, consult a Porsche specialty shop.
