What is wrong with my Porsche?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2002 Porsche Boxster Convertible. It has less than 80,000 miles on it. She runs great, but all of a sudden when you crank the car the windows go up and down, and the doors lock and unlock on their on and the Car alarm goes off. I have had it checked by a local mechanic but they don't seem to know what is wrong. Can you help me figure this problem out? Thanks. Brian P.

Does it have the original battery (probably not)? If the battery is over 6/7 years old try replacing it. Also before doing anything, find all the ground straps and clean and re-tighten them, particularly the engine ground strap.
I would agree with Smitty. 1. Does it happen every time you crank the car? 2. When you crank it, does the car turn over a bit slowly like the battery may be low? 3. Did the mechanic check the OBD-II for any codes? esp. the pre- codes (they don't make the CEL come on.) Sounds like the battery may have a bad cell. When you crank the car, the voltage drops to the point that the security system picks up a tampering situation. Which brings up another thought... what happens after the windows/alarm? Meaning does it settle down and you can drive it fine? If not, it could be something more related to the key/keyswitch/security system.
Hmm, this is surprising for such an expensive vehicle and only 80,000 miles, despite the fact that it's a 2002, which by the way, I find very hard to believe. Are you the original owner? If so, why is the mileage so low?
I have a 2002 Boxster it just quit the engine turns over but will not start
