02 Boxster IN A noise

Could be. I'd be leary about driving it until you have it checked out. If the IMS bearing goes think new engine.

If you do the bearing or have it done, the clutch also should be done along with the rear-main seal. If you do it, you'll need a couple of Porsche specialty tools to lock the cam shafts and to hold the engine at top dead center. Have the car towed, don't start it or attempt to drive. Could be a costly error. Good luck.

The IMS bearing is a well known woe by all Porsche fans...986 Nightmare.
I just had the clutch done 3 months ago before this noise started
