1991 Porsche 911 Carerra

Asked by GuruF17HJ Apr 26, 2020 at 07:42 PM about the 1991 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Why does my car start some of the time and then doesn't.  I can get in it and
it will start just fine.  Then when I turn it off for two minutes at the gas station,
it will not start? I can jump it and go home, turn off the car, i wait  a few
minutes, turn it back one and it is fine.  It happens 2 or 3 times in a week.
New Battery electrical problems were found.. I also had them check for
something that was draining  the battery. The guy that I take it to for service
knows porsche and he is baffled.

Has anyone checked the physical terminals from battery to starter. Sometimes a battery could be fine, but when starting a car with a poor connection somewhere in the power or ground side of the starting wiring only the over.power of a jump will do. Since your problem is occasional I would trace both the power wiring for your starter and any relays related to the starter. Good luck
