Check the starter itself it may have a problem.

Check the net on how to jump the solenoid mounted near the battery on the fender well. Jump it for only a second or two as you can burn up the starter and damage the engine if you leave it connected. If the engine cranks and starts, replace the solenoid.

My GUESS is it could be a faulty starter relay. Having the same problem. The push to start works but ther is a clicking coming from the engine bay. One from some place i dont know and the other is coming from the fuse box. Anyone have any suggestions on this? 2016 Ford Explorer
