97 saab 900 se turbo 2.0 alternator issues

Asked by Jackie Sep 21, 2019 at 10:39 PM about the 1997 Saab 900 2 Dr SE Turbo Hatchback

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 97 saab se 900 turbo 2.0. Last
month I replaced the tension pully, the belt
and alternator. On my way to my boyfriends it
does 2 miles before I get there. Dead battery.
I get a jump and as soon as cables are taken
off it dies. So I use the jumper tie the hood
down and get car to his house. Well today I
bought a new battery and the volt meter first
stays charging but today doesn’t. I’m not
sure what to do. Can anyone help a girl out
with some kind of answer.

Have another question if I have a short somewhere in my dash lights that make them turn on n off will this short cause alternator to fry? I’ve taken apart the dash had the lights working and put The dash back in place and it’s worse. I don’t know where the short is. Any ideas
