95 mustang gt lack of power

NEED HELP! Ill start with im not good mechanic I know the very basics i have a
95 mustang gt 5.0 runs good but has no power outside of first gear I just
bought it have no idea what's been done other than bbk shortys and BBK
injectors and flow master h pipe has 170000 and with run perfect on normal
driving condition but when I try to gas it ..it falls on its face and the check
engine light comes on and when I shift it goes off tried advancing the timing ran
better but still falls on its face also tranny not in best condition temp gauge
doesn't work and low coolant stays on even after I fill it up started happening
after changing the thermostat I have no idea what to do next

Cap and rotor is over a year old plugs and wires look OK and the check engine lights comes on at high rpm and then goes off after I shift
