Sounds like a fault in the electronic traction control. You will probably need to have this checked by a dealership or a competent garage that has access to the parts.

i dont think this is traction control. I believe it is your engine coolant temperature. I would say to get it checked out soon so you dont overheat and cause other problems. Make sure the coolant is full before you drive it. Hope this was helpful

Good lord... In case anyone else happens to read this page wondering the same thing, I feel obligated to give the only CORRECT answer here. ECT Power only shows up when you've placed the button labeled "ECT Power/Normal" or "ECT Power/Snow" into "Power" - labeled with or without "snow" as an option depending on year and model of Toyota or Lexus. ECT stands for "Electronically Controlled Transmission" and placing this switch into "Power" mode will change the shift points of the transmission and make the throttle more responsive. It doesn't change anything at full throttle, and doesn't change the amount of power the engine makes.

Wrong... ECT means electronically controlled transmission. Which allows the car to shift in order to raise the rpms....

Wow I'm glad I kept reading. I got an 06 Lexus about 2mos ago from a guy that owned for 6yrs and was the 2nd owner. I just got in and turned on to see the ect pwr light on?? Obviously I hit it when I turned on a/c seat. This was probably yesterday, however I feel the motor revving up more and sounding louder with vibrations?? So the light didn't come on as soon as I hit button, is it going to take a minute for the motor/trans to go back to normal mode ? Also my CHECK VSC light came on rt after about 100 miles driven. The guy told me this MIGHT come on, but he had it checked out by 2 places whom both told him it was nothing, it had to do with the emissions and wouldn't hurt anything other than being annoying light on?? Any advice appreciated. My first Lexus...

My 2006 Lexus ECT pwr light just came on too. It is a very hot day. I looked for a switch earlier to see if I hit something on accident. I didn't see anything that said ECT. Maybe it will go off by itself when the heatwave is over or I'll call the dealership. I just had the car looked at one week ago at the dealership.

To 1sttimeLexus10. I also bought an 06 Lexus mine is a GS300 and I had the same problem with the VCS light coming on and it is an emissions fault and in my case it was the gas cap needing to be replaced and as soon as I did I cleared the fault code with an OBD2 scan tool and it hasn't come back on since. Hope that helps.
