VSC stands for Vehicle Stability Control. It's a program that helps regulate your shocks, and brakes during emergency maneuvers. It comes on when the computer detects some kind of problem. The check engine light coming on makes sense also. Yes, it's perfectly safe to drive with the lights on, provided the check engine light isn't something more serious to your actual engine. You can take it to the dealer or almost any Auto Parts store and have them check the Codes that it's throwing. That will tell you what the problem is and if you can be driving it or not.

This is your ABS and Suspension system if the light is on the system is not active therefore if you have an Emergency, the system to correct the stability will not work. This system is designed to help keep the car stable in emergency situations. You need to have it Diagnosed by a Professional and make repairs. Could be as simple as an ABS speed sensor. Do you really want to trust you life to a 16 yr old kid at the parts store?

The VSC light can on when I started my 2007 Lexus ES350 in 20° weather. When I asked my husband he told me to shut the car off & restart it. When I did this, the car started up just fine and all caution lights were off. I believe it was mainly caused because it hadn't been started all weekend the started in freezing weather. Still, I would keep an eye out for other issues that may have caused the VSC light.

Had my vehicle diagnosed at a Toyota dealer after vsc/check engine light stayed on for a couple weeks. They said after diagnostic they found that #8 spark plug had a misfire. What that means, only they know.

2008 Lexus GS 350. My vsc icon light came on along with check engine icon. I unscrewed the gas cap and screwed it back on. Started engine and warning icons disappeared. Sounds like an absurd fix, but it worked. Lexus dealer quoted $350 for a diagnostic. Try this first.

There ain't nothing SERIOUSLY wrong with your engine when that IDIOT light comes on - it just needs to be turned off. Every fearful little bird on the web starts up with the SERIOUS engine, blah, blah blah when it's nothing more than a sensor or filter screwing up. Don't listen to them - they're full of fear about it and try to transfer it to you. The stupid car will run with just gas, oil and coolant - all that other crap is for aesthetics!
