2000 lexus es300 won't go into overdrive. I have tried the o/d button on the gear shifter, i checked the trans. fluid, it is redish brown no odor, i tried unhooking the neg terminal on the battery to reset sensor. could it be the solenoid?

Change the temp control sensor. It's on the passenger side of the car, next to the temp sensor that controls the "Temp gauge". Unplug one until you figure it's the one controlling the temp gauge. Then change the other one out. or buy one and they are a little different in size. In my 99 Lexus ES300 I would have to drive approx 3 miles until it got warm enough then it would shift into overdrive. It's not a very expensive part. $10 and easy to change
