my es300 2002 runs and idles loudly; does not appear to be an exhaust leak; should it do this? if not what might cause it to be loud? david

Not being able to hear the sound I would suggest making sure all the spark plugs are tight and do a close visual inspection of the exhaust manifold while the engine is running. Try to hear where the sound is coming from. Be careful and don't get hands, fingers, clothing, hair or jewelry caught in something moving.
