What is the cause of strong gas smell coming from 2007 es350 lexus . The smell started
a few days ago when car was in garage. I had a 80k service done on the car about 10
days ago and no problem reported at that time . My engine has the sound of old sewing
machine when running.

I had a 2006 GS 300 and there was a recall on the gas tank I believe for replacement and it causes a gas smell
I had the WORST smell coming into the cabin of my 2007 Lexus 400h. One dealership said to turn on the recirculating button on the climate screen. Nothing. Another dealership said it was probably a plastic bag cooked to the engine. Then catalytic converters. Finally, a guy on the Club Lexus site said it was probably the battery, getting ready to explode! Ha ha, right? Guess what! That's exactly what it was! All Those years and all those cars, all those batteries and nothing like that ever happened. But it did, and if your car starts smelling like a septic tank, open the hood and give the battery a sniff.
