I want to replace the 215 55 R17 tires on my 2008 Lexus ES350. What is the widest profile tire to fit the 2008 ES 350? Will a 235 55 R17 work on this car?

Switching out the 215 55 R15 tires for a set of 235 55 R17 tires

Probably. The 215 and 235 are millimeters, a 20mm difference, 25mm being one inch, 235mm being 9.25 inches, so after all that you are going to have a tire less than one inch wider. I don't see any harm in that

Whoa, hold on. You wrote two different things, on top it says 215 55 R17, I was reading the fine print you wrote 215 55 R15 to 235 55 R17, that is a much bigger wheel and tire..all bets are off ..however I think you have have just made a typo, as the '08 ES 350 Base comes with 215 55 R17~~~~~ 17 inch wheels stock

"Will a 235 55 R17 work on this car?' - that will work but 235- 50-17 would be closer.

Call goodyear, fitrestone, discount tire, ask them the biggest tire they recommend! Why call all 3 because you get a better estimate and not a sales pitch! If they contradict each other TELL THEM. This way you fine tune your response! Go with a professional they will guidelines based on their tire lines that they carry! I know this because in my younger days I sold tires i sold tires for a living! If my reply is useful? Please click my helpful button! Thank you, papa

They have guidelines custom for their tires! Sorry about syntax above! I sold tires for a living and we had booklets ( told you I was old) by every manufacture for the OEM tire and largest and smallest! Now they can look it up! Again if useful please click my helpful link!

mine have 235 50 17's seem a little mushy but overall provide a nice soft ride. They are almost worn out so I am wondering what to buy now

I have a 2008 Lexus es350. The place I went to put on 215/50/17 tires. My car is vibrating and I took it back once already it is shaking again. Do you think that it may be the tires?
