2010 ES Lexus with 194,000 has transmission going out

Asked by GuruBH3XT Jan 03, 2019 at 09:20 PM about the 2010 Lexus ES 350 FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Not the best time for a car note. Wanted the car to at least last another year.
Transmission going out on 2010 Lexus. Has 194K miles. Is it worth it to get it
fixed?  How much more life do I have if I get it fixed? About how much should
I expect to pay?  Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Could be a simple fix, could be a major fix, no way of knowing until a tech runs a diagnostic on it. Shift solenoids do gunk up. If the front pump shaft is worn, it's a full rebuild. If you can locate on your own a used lower mileage tranny it would be cost effective to swap it out, and you would get more as a trade it with a working tranny, but if you have to pay top dollar or dealership prices probably not worth it.
